COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Volunteer Work
UVic UNICEF President After two years of active volunteering, I was elected President of the University of Victoria's UNICEF Canada Campus club. My commitment and high level of participation in the club's event planning gave me great business experience as I facilitated weekly meetings among a small team, frequently corresponded with local business partners/sponsors for club events, and organized numerous small and large events (including the Commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the Rwanda Genocide event at UVic). |

Breakfast for Homeless
I have been a dedicated volunteer at the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church's breakfast for the homeless since I first entered middle school. Through the years, I have developed relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and I thrive on using my positive attitude to create a friendly experience. Such involvement has led me to truly believe in the value of providing outstanding customer service. Commerce Students' Society
As I entered the core year of my Bachelor of Commerce degree, I further immersed myself into the student life at the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business, taking on the role of Director of Community Involvement in the Commerce Students' Society. As such, I was responsible for planning events to stimulate the student life as well as choosing the non-profit organizations to support. From start to finish, I worked with my fantastic Engagement team to collaborate with sponsors, promote events, and maximize sales. As a result, the "Mo's, Do's and Dates" event was a great success with funds going to the Canadian Cancer Society, as well as the memorable "Pancake Bellyache" (pancake breakfast) event with money going towards United Way.
Exchange Buddy ProgramDuring my second year, I was matched with a gentleman completing his MBA in China who became not only a good business connection but also a close friend. I welcomed him to Victoria during his academic exchange and enjoyed showing him and his friends Canadian traditions and culture. For instance, we went to a Victoria Royals hockey game, I introduced him to afternoon tea at the Fairmont Empress, and we built a gingerbread house for Christmas!
